going to have to pass on this project
(Message 111932)
Posted 17 Mar 2012 by tullio Post: I am running BOINC 6.10.58 on my Linux box with SuSE 111. I tried to upgrade it to 6.12.34 and it would not even start due to some missing libraries for the BOINC Manager. But I am using it on 7 BOINC projects, including Test4Theory@home which makes use of a BOINC_VM virtual machine based on Virtual Box. So it is not necessary to have the latest BOINC, at least for now. Tullio |

WUs cancelled?
(Message 111754)
Posted 27 Jan 2012 by tullio Post: OK, I understand this. I have 2 BRP3SSE units running, one in Albert@home and one in Einstein@home. Both are at 47% but the first took 22 hours, the second 15 hours. Why this difference? Tullio |

WUs cancelled?
(Message 111745)
Posted 26 Jan 2012 by tullio Post: OK, but they might at least set the quorum at 1, like QMC@home and Test4Theory@home, also a Beta project. Tullio |

(Message 111742)
Posted 26 Jan 2012 by tullio Post: All these WUs have been canceled. But I finished a LineVeto search v1.03 SSE2 and it is still pending with no wingman. A BRP3SSE is running in high priority. Tullio |

(Message 111635)
Posted 30 Dec 2011 by tullio Post: I have completed one unit in about 55 hours run time. Now my ETA is 435 hours and of course the unit is running in high priority. But I have completed 28% in about 13 hours, so I am going to suspend it. Tullio |

Posted 29 Dec 2011 by tullio Post: I'm getting 500 credits here for every WU done on my CPU. The same credits I would get on Einstein@home in much less time. But I know this is a beta project, like Test4Theory@home which I am running too. I like beta projects, otherwise BOINC is a rather dull environment. Tullio |

general question about Albert
(Message 111462)
Posted 1 Dec 2011 by tullio Post: I have the impression that a binary radio pulsar search on Albert@home is slower that a similar search on Einstein@home on my Opteron 1210 CPU running Linux at 1.8 GHz. But are those tasks identical or is there a difference?. I am glad to say I can see graphics on both. Tullio |
