Any progress on this? I have successfully crunched GPU tasks for both collatz and SETI (astropulse), on my intel HD 4000.

BOINCtasks is reporting that these do not checkpoint. Is this correct?

Edit: Actually, BOINCtasks is showing something very weird. The run time is 8h35m, and BT is showing the last checkpoint was 15h00m ago. Is there something funky about this app that might cause that?

Ah, it was just pointed out to me that ste\/e already posted about this issue a few weeks ago.

Sorry for the dupe thread!

Still, an update would be appreciated.

FYI, I have "Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended)" set to "no". Yet I keep getting more tasks for it. At first I thought I must have "If no work for selected applications is available, accept work from other applications?" set to "yes". But it turns out that there is no such setting here. So that is not the problem.

Any ideas?

Use CPU
Enforced by version 6.10+ yes
Use ATI GPU
Enforced by version 6.10+ yes
Use NVIDIA GPU
Enforced by version 6.10+ yes
Run only the selected applications
Binary Radio Pulsar Search: no
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (single DM): yes
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Perseus Arm Survey): yes
Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended): no
Gamma-ray pulsar search #2: no
Run beta/test application versions?
This helps us develop applications, but it may cause jobs to fail on your computer. yes
Run CPU versions of applications for which GPU versions are available yes

Thanks. So if I read the notes right, it looks like this:

Apps page.........................................Server Status
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (Perseus Arm Survey)...BRP5
Binary Radio Pulsar Search (single DM)............BRP4U
Gamma-ray pulsar search #2........................FGRP2
Gravitational Wave S6 LineVeto search (extended)..S6BucketLVE
Binary Radio Pulsar Search........................BRP4

Does that look right?

Binary Radio Pulsar Search (single DM)............BRP4U
Gamma-ray pulsar search #2........................FGRP2

Another idea: What I'm always a bit suspicious about (BOINC-performance-wise) is OSX's power saving feature to automatically switch between a CPU build-in GPU (e.g. the Intel stuff in Sandy/Ivy Bridge CPUs) and the dedicated graphics card. Could this be the case that this feature is set differently on those two hosts perhaps?

Just to be clear, that feature can be turned off, so that the higher performance GPU is always used.

Also, be sure to be clear on which GPUs we are talking about. For example, there is the HD 5850 and there is the Mobility HD 5850. While the numbers are the same, they are completely different things. HD 5850 uses the Cypress PRO core, and is 2088 gflops. The Mobility HD 5850 is the Juniper chip, and is 800-1000 gflops, depending on the clock. The mobility versions are used in lap tops, including the Macbooks.

We have changed things slightly (the plan class name, actually) so that now the Mac OpenCL app should work with 7.0.27...7.0.29 .

Feedback is welcome.

Thanks for testing

This machine used to get work, back before the mac app was discovered to have a problem. Now it cannot get work.

Also, why is it talking about CAL? Shouldn't this be opencl?

I could swear that I saw a message yesterday, talking about how this was fixed (hopefully). But I can't find it now, and I cannot get any tasks for my mac. Was I hallucinating?

Edit: It was over at Collatz. D'oh!

Looks like reducing the OC solved it. I also upgraded from 12.3 to 12.4. So I can't be 100% sure. But whatever the case, It's working again.

Also, FWIW, I am running 3 at a time (.33), and still only ~45% GPU load. And this is with cores reserved, so the CPU has only ~90% load. Is it possible to get to >90% GPU load? Is there an upper limit on the number of simultaneous tasks?

It is OC slightly. I will move back to stock and see if that maks a difference.
