Posted 22 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: Well, we haven't clearly identified a 4xxx specific problem so far. We're still investigating the overall numerical accuracy/correctness of our OpenCL apps in general though. Given AMD's driver quality that's no trivial, straight-forward task unfortunately. I posted earlier that my 4850 card had 512MB of memory so you said it would be lowered to 490MB But ageless showed me how to chech for free mem in Boincmanager. My 512MB card only has 480MB free Is there any chance that you can lower again to 450MB? |

I have tried albert on my 4850 before with no luck. app works fine with 5850 I hav'nt tried on my 4850 since you in earliar threds have told us to be pationt with 4xxx cards. Shall I try again on my 4850? And I have successfully run SETI app .r390 ATI_HD5 on both cards 5850+4850 at the same time with sucess before. Now with BM 7.0.x I get "schedular wait" message. I saw your thread and though that "schedular wait" had to do with BM 7.0.x to do. and the correct number for ATI 4850 should be 512MB not 515MB , i typed wrong there. |

Posted 19 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: -SETI app OpenCl MB version .390 for HD5xxx ATI cards I know. But I have done it. It was some time ago so really didn't memorize which driver and config I used. but yesterday I downgraded ATI driver to 11.9 which I thought I'd used. It was before you taught me to use exclude in cc_config. I have never before seen the (schedular wait) message until yesterday. I read your thread today and thought that maybe the error comes from BM 7.x.x Before I used to get errors when running HD5 on the ATI 4850 card except in 1 config that allowed med to run SETI ATI_HD5 on my 5850 + 4850 with success. I am very sorry I can't remember the exceact config. When reading your thread I thought that BM 7.x.x could be the cause of the schedular error. It can't be done........but i've done it... Posted 19 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: Ok, we could finally track down and fix the problem. BOINC 7.0.11 contains the fix. I run SETI today and I tried to run on both my ATI cards 5850 + 4850 and I get (schedular wait) after 25seconds of runtime on the 4850 card I upgraded to BM 7.0.11 and I still have that message. I read this thread and thought that maybe the BM was the problem here. It can be other things though..... I have succesfully run SETI on both cards before which BM I used I don't remember. |

I use 11.12 Catalyst suite and I have a working Control Center and the APP for OpenCl that is included with the driver. I don't need to install the separate SDK to run POEM and Albert or SETI OpenCl. |

Posted 8 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: Ok, there's a very weird thing going on here. I tried suspending and then resumed.... I don't get the slow and sluggish thing... I run boinc 7.0.3 I also have marked "Leave task in memory while suspended". So tasks can resume without being read to memory when resumed. |

Posted 4 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: T4T already runs a Virtual Box wrapper application, but even though they are a Beta project they do not want to go test all the adjustments and bug fixes that the BOINC developers added to the Vboxwrapper app (which begs the question why they run as a beta project then, but heck ;-)), to Virtual Box (in coop with Oracle devs) and to the BOINC client. Hence the CERNVM/Vboxwrapper Test Project set up and administrated by the BOINC developers, where we test all that. Thank you for your answer. The VirtualBox thing is a bit different software tech then used by boinc earliar. Maybe more projects will use that tech once you guys completing devolop/addept it for boinc. |

Posted 4 Jan 2012 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: My Radeon HD6850 just finished its first task, it got validated against a CUDA32. How refreshing. 6850 is a nice card. I'll just have to wait until the program supports 48xx cards. Is Boinc version 7.07 scheduling any better then 7.03? |

Posted 29 Dec 2011 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: As I wrote earlier, the computations for the BRP app have to be rearranged/resized to fit the hardware of the 4xxx series cards (you'll see some messages indicting this in the log output). Either this resizing process has a bug or it's causing a loss in precision. So there is still some hope that this can be made to work. Something the devs have to look into after the holiday season. Thank you for your answer. I must have missed the earliar post. |

Posted 10 Dec 2011 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: I am normaly running on ATI 5850 Now attached a second ATI card 4850 Now running on 2 cards. The 5850 performs almost normal.... Now it uses 100% CPU to feed the GPU. It hasn't used that before when I ran it alone. The 4850 tasks all ends up "computation error" and the messages box says "output file abscent". I will now remove the 4850 from the computor. I hope to see that the CPU% gets lower when feeding the 5850 alone. 1 card in the computor. |

Posted 5 Dec 2011 by TRuEQ & TuVaLu Post: Sorry, not up to us. I'm not sure whether the BOINC devs can do anything about it since this might even be an AMD driver issue. Jord has a point here. And it can help users detect possible wrong drivers when they compare with other users. On the question, "which driver is the best driver for my ATI card?" |
