Message 112932 - Posted: 12 Jun 2014, 14:08:01 UTC

We just updated the standard BOINC web code to (more or less) the latest version. This update was part of the general server code update we ran over the past days and is a prerequisite to go ahead with the Drupal migration.

The update went fairly well so far but we still need to verify that everything still works. So be prepared to hit a few bumps in the road over the next days...

Best,
Oliver

I'd noticed that the website availability had been erratic earlier today. Not a problem in itself, and I can work round some of the odder side effects.

But I also got a few download errors on workunits around the same time. They showed as 'download error' on GW (CasA) data files like 'h1_0072.55_S6Direct'. The actual error code was

ERR_HTTP_PERMANENT -224
    // represents HTTP 404 or 416 error

The download failures are continuing. Did we lose a mount to a data storage device?

...but still can't get work for my intel GPU mac mini. I went to see if there was work available, but that page is blown up right now.

The only MAC intel_gpu app deployed here is for Gamma-ray pulsar search #3, and as far as I know they aren't producing work for it at the moment.

Yeah, that is the one I was trying to get work for. But with the server status page down, no way to tell if there was work or not.

I also noticed intermittent networking issues with UWM. That seems to be unrelated to our work on the codebase. Sorry for the inconvenience...

I'm still getting a fair amount of those:

I am getting download failures on gravitational wave search units, while binary radio pulsar units come regularly.

Server status page should work again.

BM

It shows "Log In" at the top right, but i'm already logged in. I think its supposed to show my username and "Log out". Clicking on it indeed prompts to log in (again).

Seti Beta had that a year or two ago, I believe they removed/hid it.

Hm, I can't reproduce that. For me it shows my name and "log out" as expected...

You're an administrator, the rest of us don't need to be logged onto that page, and can't logon because we aren't administrators.

You're mistaken, this has nothing to do with admin privileges. It's just a superfluous log in link that simply takes you to your account details - which doesn't make much sense here at all. It should be removed IMHO.

But yeah, I obviously missed the point of the original post :-)

This link stems from the server status page including the standard BOINC page header that incorporates that link. However the static page actually shown is being built internally without a user being logged in. IMHO this is a design flaw of the BOINC pages; I don't like that being fixed by the individual projects, but will do that nevertheless as soon as time allows.

Just to close the loop, I added my HD 4000 macs just now and they are crunching away. Thanks!
