First of all, thanks to all who have tested the app so far.

However it seems we could use more testers & feedback, as we see quite a lot of Intel GPU tasks erroring out at Einstein@Home.

I wonder whether this is a driver problem, unfortunately the driver version is not yet recorded on Einstein@Home.

What are the driver versions used here?

Cheers
HB

If someone encounters a driver problem try the following:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx?ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Desktop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=3rd+Generation+Intel%C2%AE+Core%E2%84%A2+Processors+with+Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics+4000%2f2500&ZeroResult=True&lang=eng&ProdId=3498

This is how it should look like:

@ select product name one can find his product.
Add a dummy plug, reboot and things should work (did at least twice for me).

I honestly don't expect anyone to stress these poor little Intel GPUs with more than one task at a time, so the "GPU utilization factor" was disabled there on purpose.

Expect the worst !! :-))

Hmm ... you could give it a try here at Albert; your work, my risk!

I'm glad I read this thread before trying it.

There seems to be an issue with the amount of work allocated by the Einstein server. I set my cache to 0 days and an additional of 0.05 days but got 63 of them.

That issue aside, I promptly managed to kill 5 tasks before I could suspend the rest and follow the instructions above to update the drivers. Its now happily running one as I type this. According to GPU-Z its using 95% of the GPU. They are taking around 14 mins a work unit.

Should work better now.

I fixed some omissions in the scheduler code regarding the intel_gpu (my bad). Also too, clients with old drivers shouldn't get (Intel GPU) work at all (the scheduler log will complain about minimum OpenCL version, required is 1.2).

I am getting work now. and crunching just fine. Thanks!

FWIW: driver version is 1.2. It takes reserving a full thread to get the GPU load up to ~95%. Without doing that, GPU load is ~65%.

Hi!

As suggested by Bernd, I made a feedback thread on E@H, let's continue the discussion there where we have a greater audience:

http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/forum_thread.php?id=10214

Before closing this thread, I'd like to say thank you to the guys who persistently "pestered" me :-) to begin looking into Intel GPU app versions. Sometimes we have other things on the top of our priority list but it's good to be reminded about things we always wanted to do.

Cheers
