I am getting the following on all of the GPU workunits downloaded so far: [00:58:42][4536][ERROR] Error during OpenCL FFT setup (error: -5) [00:58:42][4536][ERROR] Demodulation failed (error: 2021)! This is on http://albert.phys.uwm.edu/results.php?hostid=1369. I just downloaded and installed the 11.11 AGP Hotfix from AMD's website and rebooted a couple of hours ago. I also installed all available Windows Updates as well as 6.13.12. I have disabled AMD Overdrive in case the overclock on the GPU had any affect. It did not. I've disallowed any new work to prevent wasting any more workunits until I can get to the bottom of the issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi I tried the 11.10 and the 11.11 yesterday, they didn't work that good for me. Now I run 11.9 with SDK2.5 and I have soon finnished my first task. I run on a 5850 PCI-E I don't know if running OpenCl on AGP works now... I tried doing that earliar(a year ago) on my agp4650, even with hotfixes I couldn't get it to work. |

Well, I don't really want to backlevel everything to 11.9 if OpenCL doesn't work on AGP cards at all. This is currently my only ATI card, so I thought I'd try to help work some kinks out of the new app since it will really open up the throughput of the main project once it gets going along. Does anyone else know of any issues running OpenCL on AGP? Has anyone tried on a reasonably current driver? I still have StreamSDK 2.3 installed from when I was crunching Collatz. Would that have any impact on this issue? |

Apparently, the driver update also updated the SDK to 2.5, according to the BOINC message log: 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3200+ [Family 15 Model 44 Stepping 2] 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Processor: 512.00 KB cache 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush mmx fxsr sse sse2 pni syscall nx lm 3dnowext 3dnow 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Ultimate x64 Edition, Service Pack 1, (06.01.7601.00) 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.00 GB virtual 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Disk: 74.50 GB total, 16.91 GB free 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | Local time is UTC -6 hours 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | ATI GPU 0: ATI Radeon HD 4600 series (R730) (CAL version 1.4.1607, 1024MB, 992MB available, 960 GFLOPS peak) 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | OpenCL: ATI GPU 0: ATI RV730 (driver version CAL 1.4.1607, device version OpenCL 1.0 AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5 (793.1), 1024MB) 11/17/2011 3:05:49 PM | | ATI GPU is OpenCL-capable So, apparently it isn't a problem with too old an SDK, anyway. I still have some remnants of the previous 2.3 installation, such as Stream Kernel Analyzer 1.7, Stream Profiler 2.1, and Stream SDK Samples 2.3.0.0. Should I just uninstall these, or go ahead and download and install AMD-APP-SDK-v2.5-Windows-64.exe from AMD's website to overwrite them with the current versions? |

I don't have any issues with the currently running CPU workunit or any other project on this machine. |

I am running successfully now on my system with ATI 11.11, the AMD SDK 2.5, and BOINC 6.13.12. I do not know if installing the SKD is important or not, but it was one of my steps I took to get it to work initially. Also, I am running on Windows 8 64bit. |

P.S. TM, you need to look at your sig links. Who's EarlW? ;) Edit: I missed one element. Still on 6.12. Lemme try 6.13 (gulp, not easy to go back). Dublin, California Team: SETI.USA |

The first thing to do when installing drivers with ATI is to First uninstall older drivers first. Then reboot. Then install the newer driver. I think it is the same when updating the SDK. uninstall everything and then start from scratch. Apparently, the driver update also updated the SDK to 2.5, according to the BOINC message log: |

Very nice :) Some drivers contains OpenCl driver and/or APP SDK elements that some projects is satisfied with to run. What version of windows did you choose when picking the driver at www,ati.com? I see that you get a totall runtime of the task for aprox 1hour... What is GPU load% from time to time. I seem to get very low GPU load% and only for a few seconds a minute. I saw a Linux that also completed a task in 1hour. I must do something wrong... Another windows computor with 10hours runtime.... http://albert.phys.uwm.edu/results.php?hostid=160 A linux with 1hour runtime.... http://albert.phys.uwm.edu/results.php?hostid=1288 I wonder if the tasks are in different sizes here... |

I am getting the following on all of the GPU workunits downloaded so far: Sorry, I haven't read the whole thread yet, just in case someone answered already: this error simply means that your GPU doesn't have enough memory available. You need at least a 512 MB graphics card. In any case, if you see this error, you can't run our current app. Sorry, Oliver |

Nope, simply depends on the GPU... |

Is there any recomendation what ati driver one should use with an ATI5850 I've been testing a few and made 8% in 4 minutes with driver 11.9 and then my GPU clock downclockes for some reason and speeds gets very slow...... very slow==1task in 10 hours

I am seeing the same thing. It goes at a normal rate for the first 20% or so, then takes like 10 hours to complete the balance. This is on a 5870. http://albert.phys.uwm.edu/result.php?resultid=34806 Dublin, California Team: SETI.USA |

I see that you get a totall runtime of the task for aprox 1hour... I'm using a ATI 6970, and get about a 70% GPU load all the way through the app, at least during the several times I was looking. As for what SDK I used, I dunno, I just searched for "ATI SDK 2.5 on AMD's site. After I installed that, I ended up upgrading to the Radeon 11.11 drivers, with the APP installed as well. |

Is there any recomendation what ati driver one should use with an ATI5850 I did set my GPU clock speed higher than the default, but that wouldn't stop it from lowering the speed on low load. I don't know why I would be getting a higher load consistently than the rest of you guys. |

Thank you for that Zoombie. Now I now I am not alone with that problem... Tank: I saw a anonymous Computor with a 69xx doing a task in aprox 1 hour too... Maybe it is a difference in the drivers regarding 69xx compared to 58xx. Or maybe it is in the app itself..... And regarding the downclocking when GPU is idle might have something to do with newer drivers energy saving, I am not sure of that yet. Now I have 11.11 installed and 40 albert tasks that won't download.. I'll se what happends in a few hours when server is fixed. :) |

Is there any recomendation what ati driver one should use with an ATI5850 Since we currently use SDK 2.5 to build the app, you need at least Catalyst 11.7.
No idea about the downclocking. How about the AMD developer forums? May there's a hint about a low level driver setting WRT power-saving? Which OS do you use? Oliver |

All of the ATI drivers since Catalysts 11.3 do this downclocking of the GPU clock speed. If someone doesn't want that to happen, they should use Catalysts up to 11.2, not play any of the newest games, not hope for any fixes in the latest OpenCL additions, etc. etc. All of the Nvidia drivers since do this downclocking the R190 drivers.
