I have just found that a number of work units I had been waiting on for a wingman to validate have now been cancelled. The reason given is that the WU can't be validated. This has happened on 16 Gravitational Wave S6 GC Search v1.10 (SSE2) work units. Also on 1 Binary Radio Pulsar Search v1.00 BRP3SSE work unit. The Binary Radio WU was cancelled before the current in progress WU has been returned from another computer that may of validated my WU. A loss of over 90 hours computation that was actually successful. The joys of an Alpha Project, don't you just love it? Disappointing just the same. Bernd did say that nothing may work now didn't he. G'Day STEVE, 750 work units, that would hurt. I have just aborted 11 Binary work units even ones I had started (one was at 10 hours) after I found I had some more of these "Can't Validate" WU type (another 4 or 5) and 0.00 points next to them. On inspection it seems the Work Units had been cancelled prior to my WU finishing and then it wont validate, successful or not. The 11 I aborted had already been cancelled for whatever reason and the project lets them process like normal but you get nothing on returning the WU. Most I had not started so could of been cancelled from the server to the client without wasting volunteers time and resources. Unlike some I only have a few computers to check for no longer required WUs, but if I had 10 or more computers it could take awhile or you just don't do it. Conan |
