Your personal background.
I'm a computer scientist educated at the TU Berlin and now working at the Albert-Einstein-Institut in Potsdam, Germany on data analysis of gravitational wave detectors, in particular in the GEO600 project.

I'm dancing with the MS-dev[ie]l - I ported the analysis code to Windows for using it on Einstein@Home, though I prefer development on Unix-style systems. Obviously I like challenges.
By now I have taken over responsibility for the Applications of all platforms (MS Windows, Linux x86, MacOS PPC and Intel, Solaris SPARC and some more). I really enjoy working with a lot of different OS and CPUs.

I also enjoy the idea that there are tens of thousands of different computers out there running software I have contributed to, delivering a computing power equal to state-of-the-art supercomputers.
