The scientific work reported in this document would not have been possible without the generous efforts and contributions of tens of thousands of Einstein@Home participants. We are very grateful for your help, and hope that you continue to participate in Einstein@Home during the coming years as the LIGO and GEO instruments improve in sensitivity. This document provides a detailed explanation and progress report about the analysis that we are doing on your computers. We hope that you find it interesting.
The results shown on these web pages have undergone internal validation and review within the LIGO Scientific Collaboration. However, it is standard practice for scientists to also submit their work for external review. So, in addition to these web-based progress reports, final results from Einstein@Home, based on future LIGO and GEO science runs, will be submitted to refereed scientific journals for publication. These publications, which will appear in the formal published scientific literature, will also acknowledge the assistance of Einstein@Home participants.
The last section of this document is the LIGO S3 Author List. This gives the names and institutional affiliations of the scientists and engineers who designed, built, and operate the LIGO and GEO instruments and data analysis systems.
